Solomon Dalung, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development has commended the Dream Team VI for their feat so far at the on-going U-23 African Nations Cup in Senegal.
Punch reports that in a telephone conversation with the team, Dalung urged the crew to strive to secure the Olympic ticket, as this tournament determines Africa’s representatives at Rio 2016.
He said: “We are very proud of our boys, they played very well. They could have won the match but we are happy with the one point. I commend your efforts, and I want every Nigerian to support the team. Nobody wants the victory more than you do but sometimes in sports there are upsets and surprises.”
The minister advised Nigerians to rally round the team as what they need now are prayers.
“Sports, especially football is the nation’s unifying force. I am appealing to Nigerians to get behind the team and pray for their success because victories in football further unite and give Nigerians joy,” Dalung concluded. article_adwert]
