Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, has not given up on trying to sign Neymar, Sport reports.
According to the Spanish source, the president’s tenacity should not be underestimated, however, and will use Los Blancos’ considerable wealth to continue to push for a move.
The 68-year-old lost the transfer battle for Neymar. Perez says that he has excepted that outcome as personal failure and wishes to make amends by plotting a Luis Figo-style swoop for the attacker.
Goal.com explained: “Add to that the fact that Neymar currently makes up one-third of perhaps the greatest attacking trident football has ever seen alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, and that the attacker followed in the footsteps of personal heroes Rivaldo, Romario and Ronaldinho by choosing Camp Nou, a move to the Blaugrana’s bitter rivals appears extremely unlikely”.
Neymar was signed by Barca in 2013 from Santos. He has scored 45 goals in 75 games for Barcelona
